Buddy Bell

This Blog is for David at Indians Baseball Cards Always
Since I now know that David is one looker who is reading my bloggs, I decided to write about one of his Indians. I have chosen Buddy Bell. I have always been a big fan of Buddy Bell. You know when you buy baseball cards there seems to be one player that you always pull out of a pack mine is Buddy Bell. Another reason I like Buddy bell is that I like to argue. Growing up in Missouri everybody around me seemed to love George Brett. So, I would always say Buddy bell is just as good of third baseman as George Brett! My female cousins would always say, "But George Brett is so good looking!" I would reply, yeah but if I wanted to look like man that would attract women I would want to look like Buddy Bell.
Later after he left the Indians and went to the Rangers, he did give George Brett a run for his money as the best third baseman. I was really happy when the Royals hired him as their manager a few years back even-though he is no longer their manager. Buddy is one of those managers that never wins a lot of games, but after he leaves you realize he built a good club!

You picked a good one! I have been a Buddy Bell fan for as long as I can remember. In fact, the card you show is the first Bell card I owned - 1975 Topps! Love the player history you add, too!

Buddy Bell is a great baseball man! He's in the White Sox minor league organization currently.

Bringing Collectors Back to the Hobby

The main thing I remember about Minnie Minoso coming back to play in 1976 & 1980 was the enthusiasism he brought to the players and fans. That is what I am hoping this blogging will do is bring back the enthusiasim to the hobby! During the late 1980's & early 1990's there were a lot of collectors, many of these people were into it more as a lottery then they were for the fun of collecting. I had a lot of concerns when I seen people paying $4-5 for a Greg Jefferies Rookie Card. I was taught by my mentor, (I will call him Larry) that it was always more important to try and collect a player that could possibly be in the "Hall of Fame" someday, rather than a "Hot" rookie. My fears came true, many people started leaving the hobby and the bottom fell out of collecting. However, there were a lot of collectors out there that really enjoyed the hobby of collecting cards. Wow!! I haven't did a link exchange in a year. But today we have one with The Dugout Cards and Collectibles This is a great site and the manger of this site told me that My name is John and I have started a new website that I thought would interest you. I have created the second largest website selling individual/common/single sports cards. I currently have over 200,000 cards for sale from 1974 to 2009. I had got back into collecting a couple of years ago and I went to go buy a couple of cards from a Local Card shop to finish some sets and they charged me an arm and a leg.
